Brandon Beachy (elbow) struggled in his first spring start on Friday, but is focusing on the big picture rather than getting discouraged by the results. Beachy allowed two runs on five hits in his 1 2/3 innings of work against the Astros on Friday, while walking one and striking out one. He came away from the appearance optimistic with how he felt though. His goal remains to build strength and remain healthy heading into the regular season, and he appears to be on track toward accomplishing that feat.
