The Dodgers wanted to open up a spot on the 40-man roster, and Beachy proved to be the odd man out. He'll stay on as a non-roster invitee to spring training, but it is curious that the right-hander was the choice considering he's guaranteed to be paid $1.5 million this year. It would've been tough to crack the rotation as it was, but now it will be even tougher for Beachy to do so now that he's off the 40-man roster.
