Giants manager Gabe Kapler said after Wednesday's 8-0 loss to the Dodgers that Posey (head) wasn't immediately diagnosed with a concussion after he experienced dizziness when he was struck in the helmet by a foul ball in the third inning, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. Posey went hitless in his lone at-bat before departing.
EDGE Analysis
While Kapler was careful to note that Posey isn't out of the woods for a concussion just yet, the skipper said the veteran backstop is "feeling better" and will be re-evaluated Thursday. Given that Posey has been diagnosed with two documented concussions since the 2017 season, the Giants are likely to take extra caution with the 34-year-old, who will most likely be withheld from the lineup in Thursday's series finale.
