Alvarez (shoulder) has returned to the Athletics after throwing 30 pitches against minor league batters with High-A Stockton, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.

This is a good sign for the right-hander, especially considering he was able to use all of his pitches in the outing. Alvarez still has a way to go in his recovery, but it's promising that a return in mid-May is still realistic.
