According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Blue Jays have "checked on" Alfonso Soriano. The Jays are looking for a power bat with Edwin Encarnacion, Adam Lind, and Brett Lawrie on the disabled list. Soriano, 38, was released by the Yankees earlier this week after batting just .221/.244/.367 with six home runs and 23 RBI in 67 games for New York.
