Hector Ambriz earned his second save of the season in Sunday's win over the Angels. With Jose Veras unavailable after pitching the last two days, Amriz pitched a scoreless ninth inning. He remains the top candidate for saves if Veras continues to struggle. Rule 5 pick Josh Fields could also find his way into high-leverage situations.

Hector Ambriz recorded his first major league save Thursday by striking out two in a scoreless ninth against the Rockies. Ambriz is next in line for saves if Jose Veras keeps struggling. Veras, who was having such a great May, has given up runs in three of four appearances, and he got tonight off after working three straight days. Ambriz isn't anything special; he wouldn't even have a spot in the bullpens of 20 major league teams. Still, he's become worthy of some consideration in AL-only leagues, and he'll be a certain pickup if Veras struggles next time out.

Hector Ambriz allowed two hits but escaped his inning of relief unscathed in Monday's extra-inning victory against the Rockies. He struck out one. Houston rarely affords its middle relievers with leads, which makes it difficult to accrue holds, but Ambriz has notched eight thus far, even though his work has proved uninspiring. Ambriz is 1-2 with a 4.94 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 19/8 K/BB ratio over 25 appearances.
