EDGE Analysis
He capped the scoring on the evening by taking Devin Williams deep in the eighth inning. Polanco has two homers on the year, both of which have come in the last three games, but he's still hitting only .205 (8-for-39) through 12 contests.

Polanco went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Polanco took Joe Musgrove deep to right in the second inning to get the Pirates on the board with a 1-0 lead. It was the first run Musgrove had given up through his first 16.1 innings to begin the season and it was also Polanco's first home run of the year. It was just the beginning of a fantastic night for the 29-year-old after he reached on an infield single and later stole second in the fourth before walking in his final two plate appearances. Starting for the first time in three games, this could be the game that gets Polanco on the right track after he had just four hits and a 6:12 BB:K through his first 29 at-bats of the year.

Polanco is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Pirates are stocking up on extra right-handed bats to counter Padres lefty Blake Snell, so the lefty-hitting Polanco will head to the bench to open up a start in right field for Anthony Alford. Polanco has gotten off to a dismal start to the 2021 campaign, recording four hits while striking out 12 times in 29 at-bats.

Polanco went 2-for-3 with a walk, double and run scored Thursday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Polanco had collected just one hit while striking out seven times in 17 at-bats entering Thursday's contest. He turned that around to some extent, managing both his first extra-base hit and multi-hit effort of the campaign. Though he has a lengthy track record of disappointing performances, Polanco showed a glimpse of potential with this effort.

EDGE Analysis
He's collected one hit in 14 at-bats while starting each of the Pirates' first four games. At some point, he'll get a day off, but the 29-year-old is 4-for-9 in his career against Tuesday's starter for the Reds, Wade Miley.

Polanco went 1-for-4 in a Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis

Polanco (personal) went 1-for-2 with a triple and a walk against Baltimore on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
He served as the designated hitter in his first game back since March 6. Polanco has ripped up the Grapefruit League with six hits (including four extra-base hits) in 13 at-bats, but it's important to note that the outfielder batted .333 in 87 spring at-bats covering his prior three spring campaigns -- then didn't bat higher than .254 in the subsequent regular seasons. Polanco is healthy, and it's a good sign that he's playing well, but questions remain as to whether he can build upon his strong spring start.
