Holland surrendered two runs on three hits and struck out one over one inning in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Holland last recorded a save on April 18. He had pitched four straight innings without being charged with a run entering Sunday, but he faltered in the seventh inning against the White Sox. Holland sports a 5.25 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB in 12 innings this season. The Royals have lost eight straight games, so save chances haven't come up lately. Manager Mike Matheny might hesitate to call on Holland the next time there's a lead to protect in the ninth given the relievers inconsistent pitching so far.

Holland was charged with a blown save against Cleveland on Tuesday, allowing three inherited runners to score while allowing one hit and striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
Holland entered a one-out, bases loaded sixth inning in relief of starter Mike Minor. An unfortunate fielding error by Nicky Lopez allowed two runs to score, followed by a game-tying RBI single by Harold Ramirez. All three runs were charged to Minor, leaving Holland with his first blown save of the season. The 35-year-old has had a rough season so far, compiling a 4.09 ERA and 1.82 WHIP with two saves as he continues to battle for ninth-inning duties.

Holland pitched a scoreless eighth inning with one hit and two strikeouts to earn a hold in Monday's 3-2 win over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Holland was effective in his outing, but it's notable that he didn't work in the ninth inning. Closing duties went to Josh Staumont for the second straight save opportunity. The 35-year-old Holland has struggled a bit in 2021 with a 5.63 ERA, 2.13 WHIP and 8:7 K:BB across eight innings. He's picked up two saves, two holds and a 2-1 record in eight appearances. Manager Mike Matheny will likely continue to use a committee approach to the closer role until one reliever takes control of the job. Wade Davis and Scott Barlow are also in the mix for high-leverage work.

Holland (undisclosed) was reinstated from the injured list Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Holland was placed on the injured list for an unspecified reason Friday, but he'll return just one day later. The right-hander should be the favorite for save chances once again now that he's available. Holland has converted on both of his save opportunities this year but has posted a 6.43 ERA and 2.29 WHIP in seven innings.

Holland was placed on the injured list for an unspecified reason Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Holland gave up three runs in two-thirds of an inning during a relief appearance Tuesday, and he'll now be forced to miss time. The fact that the Royals didn't provide an injury designation for Holland suggests that he could be on the COVID-19 injured list. If that's the case, he'll be eligible to return once he clears the league's health and safety protocols as long as he hasn't tested positive for the virus. Brad Brach's contract was selected in a corresponding move, while Wade Davis and Scott Barlow could see save chances in Holland's absence.

Holland gave up three runs on three hits and a walk with one strikeout in two-thirds of an inning in Tuesday's 14-7 loss the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
This was an impromptu bullpen game for the Royals. Holland began the ninth inning, but allowed homers to Mike Zunino and Austin Meadows before infielder Hanser Alberto took the mound to get the final out. Through seven innings, Holland has a 6.43 ERA, 2.29 WHIP and 6:7 K:BB. He's logged two saves, a hold and a 2-1 record in seven appearances.

Holland picked up his second save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning Sunday against the Blue Jays. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Holland entered the ninth with a two-run lead and didn't have problems slamming the door on an anemic Blue Jays offense that went 2-for-30 with eight strikeouts as a team. The veteran reliever struck out Randal Grichuk and later retired Rowdy Tellez on a flyout and Alejandro Kirk on a popout to end the game, needing just 13 pitches (seven strikes) to get the job done. Holland is 2-for-2 in save opportunities this season.

Holland (2-1) picked up the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays after throwing a perfect seventh inning.
EDGE Analysis
He kept the Jays off the board on 14 pitches (nine strikes), working around a Hanser Alberto throwing error, and Holland was rewarded when Salvador Perez walked it off with a solo shot. Holland has a 3.38 ERA and shaky 4:6 K:BB through 5.1 innings, but he remains in the late-inning mix for Kansas City and has one save and one hold in addition to his two wins.

Holland earned the save against the Angels on Tuesday, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings and yielding two hits along with one walk while striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
Holland came on to protect a one-run lead with two outs and a runner on third base in the top of the eighth frame, striking out Jon Jay to end the threat. He walked a tightrope in the ninth, however, allowing two of the first three batters to reach base to set up a showdown with Mike Trout. Holland got Trout to strike out on six pitches, but he subsequently walked Albert Pujols to load the bases. He then bounced a ball to the next hitter (Jared Walsh), but the ball struck Walsh and caromed toward catcher Salvador Perez, who narrowly picked off David Fletcher at third base to cap the contest. Despite the tenuous finish, Holland had some big moments in the outing to earn his first save.

Holland (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings and allowed two walks to earn the win in Sunday's extra-inning victory over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Holland entered the game after Jesse Hahn failed to record an out in the eighth inning. The 35-year-old Holland proceeded to throw 15 of his 26 pitches for strikes over two innings of work, and he became the pitcher of record when Michael Taylor scored on an error in the 10th. Sunday was Holland's first scoreless outing of the year. He's allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and five walks while striking out two in three innings this season. He has no saves and one hold in three outings.
