Perkins (shoulder) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There were no setbacks during the light bullpen session, which is big news for Perkins, who has been out since early last season with a torn labrum. Although it is good news he is finally throwing off a mound, it is still unlikely he'll be ready by opening day. His situation will become more clearer as he continues to progress his workouts throughout spring.

Contrary to a prior report, Perkins (shoulder) did not suffer a setback and rather just needs more time to work on arm strength before he takes a mound, according to LaVelle Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
EDGE Analysis
Multiple sources reported that the left-hander had in fact felt a "catch" behind his recovering shoulder, but this report seems to quell those concerns. Regardless, this news still makes a return for Opening Day more unlikely, meaning that you'll have to suffer through a DL stint before getting any results from Perkins. His situation should become clearer once he works out more during spring training.

Perkins has felt a "catch" behind his shoulder and won't throw off a mound Friday as planned, Patrick Reusse of ESPN 1500 am Twin Cities reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins underwent season-ending shoulder surgery for a torn labrum in June and had been throwing 120-foot long toss at low intensity. Perkins was scheduled to throw off a mound four times in early February before joining the team for spring training. It was thought he could begin the season on the DL as he works his way back from the surgery and this news makes it more likely he won't be ready for Opening Day. His ability to return to full strength this season is still uncertain.

Perkins (shoulder) is progressing well from surgery but may open the season on the disabled list, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports. "It's going to be down to the finish line at the end of spring training whether I'm ready or not," said Perkins on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in June and has been only able to ramp up to 120-foot long toss at low intensity thus far in his rehab. According to Berardino, Perkins is scheduled to throw off a mound four times in early February before joining the team for spring training. It appears that the Twins will be cautious with his throwing program throughout the spring until he regains full strength in his throwing shoulder. More updates on Perkins will follow as spring training gets underway, but at this point, he's a question mark heading into Opening Day.

Perkins (shoulder) is making "solid progress" in his return from shoulder surgery and it's not unreasonable to think that he may be ready to pitch in spring training games, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
As a reliever, Perkins will not need a heavy volume of innings during Grapefruit League play to be ready for Opening Day. However, he's returning from a major injury, and the timetable for his return could be shifted back as needed if he experiences any setbacks in the coming months. Perkins is returning from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder, and as a result, he should be considered a long shot to return to his pre-2016 form -- at least initially -- upon returning.

Perkins (shoulder) began throwing lightly three weeks ago and feels he could be to throw at the start of spring training. "I've thrown the ball 75 feet at about 50 percent effort. So I'm still a really long ways away from even throwing off a mound," Perkins told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "I know I've made progress, but there's still a lot more to be made."
EDGE Analysis
Perkins underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder June 23. The procedure was more extensive than expected as his labrum had become completely detached from the shoulder bone. The odds of Perkins returning back to his prior All-Star form seem unlikely, but he's on track to be able to try to revive his career in spring training.

The surgery on Perkins' injured labrum was more extensive than expected and he'll be out at least eight months, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Perkins' labrum had to be reattached to the bone during surgery.
EDGE Analysis
It sounds like Perkins' career could be in doubt after the procedure. He could be ready to start throwing at the start of spring training with an eight month timetable, but any return date is uncertain at this point.

Perkins (shoulder) is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery in the next 7-to-10 days, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
According to Berardino, Perkins has "abnormalities" in his labrum, including fraying of the labrum in his pitching shoulder. He will miss the remainder of the season once he undergoes surgery, and general manager Terry Ryan stated that the best case scenario for Perkins would be for him to resume throwing by December. The Twins will likely stick with a closer-by-committee for the foreseeable future, using Brandon Kintzler and Fernando Abad in the back end of the bullpen.

Perkins will miss the rest of the 2016 season and will likely have shoulder surgery, La Velle Neal of the Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins tore his shoulder labrum in the first week of the 2016 season, and it may require a surgery to repair it. Shoulder labrum repairs generally require about six months to a year to fully heal. General Manager Terry Ryan said that Perkins could be ready to go at the start of the 2017 season. Brandon Kintzler and Fernando Abad will close for the Twins while Perkins is out.

Perkins (shoulder) will visit with another specialist after he cut his last bullpen session off after feeling soreness in his left shoulder, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins had thrown two bullpen sessions and seemed set to begin a minor league rehab assignment before the setback. Now it sounds like he's back to square one and any timetable for his return is unclear.
