Cole did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing four hits and two walks over 5.2 scoreless innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Cole and Alek Manoah both left their starts unblemished, so both come away with hard-luck no-decisions. Cole wasn't as dominant as he was against the Twins on Sunday when he fired a two-hit shutout, but it's another scoreless appearance for the 32-year-old ace. This also makes five consecutive starts where Cole has given up no more than two runs, and his ERA is now a sparkling 0.79 to go along with a 36:10 K:BB over 34 innings. He's lined up to face the Rangers in Texas next week.

Cole (4-0) earned the win Sunday, throwing a complete-game shutout, allowing two hits and one walk over nine innings against the Twins. He struck out 10.
EDGE Analysis
Cole was dominant Sunday, allowing just two hits (both singles) and one walk while punching out 10. Cole has won his first four starts of the season and lowered his ERA to 0.95 through a league-leading 28.1 innings. He's recorded a 32:8 K:BB with a stellar 0.74 WHIP.

Cole (3-0) earned the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings against the Guardians. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Cole did not miss many bats in Tuesday's win, but he was effective nevertheless against the Cleveland lineup. He was particularly good after the first inning, as he allowed a pair in that frame before keeping the Guardians off the scoreboard through the next six innings to get that third win of the campaign without a loss. Cole now has a 1.40 ERA and 22:7 K:BB over 19.1 innings to begin the 2023 season.

Cole (2-0) earned the win Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits and three walks in a 4-2 victory over the Phillies. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankee ace dazzled in his second start providing six scoreless innings against a potent Phillies offense. Cole fought through multiple tough at-bats but attacked the corners efficiently, keeping the Philadelphia batters from making decent contact. The right-hander was relieved after a pitch clock violation resulted in his third walk of the game that would later score following his departure. The 32-year-old threw 103 pitches (68 for strikes) and sports a 0.73 ERA and 19:5 K:BB through 12.1 innings. Cole's next start is tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Orioles.

Cole (1-0) earned the win and racked up 11 strikeouts while allowing three hits and two walks over six scoreless innings in the Yankees' season-opening win Thursday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
In doing so, Cole became the first pitcher in Yankees history to record 10-plus punchouts in an Opening Day outing. He scattered three singles and two walks while thoroughly dominating the visiting Giants throughout the afternoon. Cole threw 95 pitches, 56 of which went for strikes. Up next for the ace right-hander is likely another home start in the Bronx on Wednesday, this time against the Phillies.

Cole will start for the Yankees on Opening Day against San Francisco, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Aaron Boone confirmed Cole as the team's Opening Day starter Monday, but the decision was essentially a foregone conclusion. Cole is considered one of the top pitchers in baseball and is set to toe the mound for the Yankees on Opening Day for the fourth straight season. The veteran right-hander led the majors with 257 strikeouts last season while posting a 3.50 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 200.2 innings.

Cole topped out at 99 mph in his spring pitching debut Friday, per Max Goodman of SI.com, and he tossed three scoreless innings against Detroit during which he allowed one hit and no walks while striking out four batters.
EDGE Analysis
Based on Cole's results in his first Grapefruit League appearance, the veteran hurler appears primed for the regular season. The right-hander threw 37 of 51 pitches for strikes and allowed just two baserunners -- one on a double and the other on an error. Though Cole's 3.50 ERA last season was his worst since 2017, he still posted an impressive 1.02 WHIP and 32.4 percent strikeout rate, and he's consistently been among the first three starting pitchers off the board in 2023 fantasy drafts.

Cole is expected to start Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cole has been tossing bullpen sessions but has yet to throw in a game this spring. He'll likely toe the mound against Detroit on Friday, though Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports that New York is "leaving the door open" for the veteran right-hander to toss a live BP session instead. Cole will enter the regular season as the team's ace after posting a 3.50 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 257:50 K:BB over 200.2 innings last season.

Cole pitched five innings and took the loss during Saturday's 5-0 defeat in Game 3 of the ALCS, allowing three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Cole was unable to turn the tides of the ALCS in Saturday's Game 3 defeat, surrendering a two-run homer to Chas McCormick in the second inning and leaving after loading the bases in the sixth inning. The two-run homer was a back-breaker, coming after a two-out error by Harrison Bader, and Lou Trivino allowed all three of Cole's inherited runners to score in the sixth. The 32-year-old's only regular season start against Houston had come on June 25 when he threw seven strong innings while allowing one run, but he was unable to match that performance Saturday. Cole was 2-0 with two wins against the Guardians during the ALDS, but his loss in Game 3 brings him to 2-1 with a 2.98 ERA and 23 K's over 18.1 innings in the postseason.

Cole is an option to pitch in relief in Game 5 of the ALDS against the Guardians on Tuesday, potentially as the closer, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cole threw 110 pitches in his Game 4 start on Sunday, but it's not uncommon in the playoffs for starters to skip the bullpen session they typically throw between starts and toss an inning in game action instead. Whether a presumably somewhat tired Cole is a stronger option than the Yankees' other relief weapons will be a tough call for manager Aaron Boone.
