After coming over from Toronto in a deadline trade, Doubront made 11 appearances (eight starts) spanning 52.2 innings, posting a 5.81 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. He had rather dramatic platoon splits for the season, with a .321 BAA to right-handers and a .225 BAA to same-handed hitters. Look for him compete for a rotation in spot in spring training with a bullpen role being the fallback plan.

Once regarded as a top prospect, Doubront's 6.72 K/9 and 4.37 FIP suggest he's not worth monitoring for fantasy purposes.

Doubront pitched well Friday in a no-decision, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk across six innings in a win over the Astros. He struck out four.

EDGE Analysis

This looked like a disaster outing in the making with all the strong righty bats in the Astros order, but Doubront did very well to allow only six base runners. Doubront has very little upside for fantasy purposes and will likely have trouble finding his way into a rotation come next season. In any case, he'll finish the year in the A's rotation and start next Thursday against the Rangers, a team who blew him up to the tune of seven runs in his previous start.

Doubront (3-2) struggled Sunday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks, while striking out five batters through 4.1 innings in a 12-4 loss to the Rangers.

EDGE Analysis

Doubront was victimized by Adrian Beltre ,who hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and a three-run home run in the fifth inning to account for most of the damage on the lefty's stat line. In 57.2 innings, Doubront is posting a 4.99 ERA to go along with a 1.53 WHIP and 40:18 K:BB --- cringe-worthy numbers for fantasy owners. The 27-year-old will look to change that outlook when he takes the mound against the Astros next.

EDGE Analysis

Doubront lasted six strong innings but collapsed in the seventh, as he was tagged for just his third home run of the season by Jonathan Villar and then allowed a single before he was lifted at just 88 pitches. Doubront hasn't completed the seventh inning in eight starts this year, and he'll need to prove he can do that if he's going to be a viable starter down the line.
