Carrera hit a two-run homer as a pinch hitter in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
He's seeing a decent quantity of at-bats as the Jays' fourth outfielder, but Carrera's never going to be mistaken for a significant fantasy asset. He's only somewhat useful even in deep AL-only formats.

Carrera is batting leadoff and playing left field in Thursday's contest with the Orioles, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager John Gibbons shook up the Blue Jays lineup to try to spark some offense, and the move ultimately benefited Carrera. It's unclear if this move will stick, but it could help the veteran outfielder to amass a few extra runs while he's hitting in front of the heart of Toronto's order.

Carrera will be held out of the lineup Wednesday against the Orioles, MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carrera received the Opening Day nod in left field Monday, but he'll cede those duties to Steve Pearce in the second game of the series, opening up first base for Justin Smoak. Thanks to his ability to capable handle left- and right-handed pitching, Pearce should have the most stable starting role of the trio, while Carrera's starts will likely be limited to when right-handers are on the mound.

Carrera (thigh) returned to the lineup Friday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
A thigh contusion had kept Carrera on the shelf since earlier in the week, but he was able to draw back in against the Red Sox on Friday. Now that he's back healthy, look for Carrera to get regular at-bats for the rest of spring before slotting into a corner outfield platoon role once the season gets underway.

Carrera will miss a few days after suffering a thigh bruise in a collision with Darwin Barney, the Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Jays are considering Carrera for a spot on their bench to begin the season. For now, it appears as though he may avoid the disabled list to begin the season.

Carrera (finger) is batting leadoff and playing right field during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Carrera sat out of Saturday's contest after injuring his finger on Friday. The injury was considered minor and the outfielder is set to return to action Sunday.

Carrera (finger) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays, Toronto play-by-play announcer Mike Wilner reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darrell Ceciliani and Jon Berti will man the corner outfield spots Saturday with both Carrera and Melvin Upton (shoulder) out of the lineup. According to Wilner, Carrera injured his finger on a slide in Friday's game against the Phillies. His next chance to return will come Sunday against the Pirates.

Carrera may occupy the short end of a left field platoon with Melvin Upton Jr. because of his success against left-handed pitching, according to manager John Gibbons, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty stick owns a career .286/.343/.368 line in 254 plate appearances against southpaws. That sample size is a bit small to buy this reverse-platoon concept, but at least it's keeping him in the conversation for starting reps. If Upton and Carrera falter, however, it wouldn't surprise many fantasy players if Dalton Pompey is given another chance to seize a job. Carrera is most logically valued as a fantasy piece in AL-only leagues.

Carrera is being challenged by Dalton Pompey for a spot on the 25-man roster, SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
Throughout the offseason, it seemed clear that Carrera was in line for a platoon role in 2017 (in left field with Melvin Upton). However, it appears that plan may be amended before Opening Day. Carrera hasn't exactly lit up the stat sheet throughout his six-year career (.255/.314/.351), and overall, he's not suited for much more than a reserve role. On the other hand, Pompey is widely regarded to be a future star in the organization and the team may be ready to get him more MLB exposure at Carrera's expense.

Carrera agreed to a one-year, $1,162,500 contract with the Blue Jays on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old outfielder is expected to fill a platoon role in 2017 with Melvin Upton Jr. also in the fold after being acquired for the playoff push in last year. Carrera slashed just .248/.323/.356 over a career-high 310 plate appearances last year, so with less regular at-bats in store in 2017, his value may be on the decline.
