Santana (finger) donned a cast on his right hand Monday and is scheduled to be reevaluated in two weeks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana underwent surgery Feb. 6 to remove a calcium deposit from his right middle finger and isn't expected to resume throwing until late in the spring, when he expects to shed the cast and gain clearance for baseball activities from team doctors. At the time of Santana's surgery, the Twins announced that they expected the right-hander to require 10-to-12 weeks to fully heal, meaning that he'll likely be unavailable for the first 2-to-4 weeks of the regular season. Since he isn't dealing with an arm injury, Santana shouldn't take long to shake off the rust once he's cleared to pitch again, but opening the season on the disabled list could prove costly for the veteran from a financial standpoint. His $14 million option for 2019 would automatically vest if he throws 200 innings this season, but the delayed start means he almost certainly won't reach that benchmark.

Santana underwent a capsular release and debridement procedure on the MCP joint in his right middle finger Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Santana experienced discomfort in the finger while throwing bullpen sessions to prepare for spring training. The injury is a result of the repeated stress inherent in pitching, rather than a single event, and is something Santana has dealt with in the past. The Twins expect Santana to require 10 to 12 weeks to recover from the procedure, which means he'll miss the first few weeks of the season, likely returning in the latter half of April.

Santana will start Tuesday's wild-card game against the Yankees, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Twins' No. 1 hurler will take his talents to the Bronx with the hope of knocking off the Yankees to earn a berth in the American League Division Series against Cleveland. Santana posted a career-best 3.28 ERA and 16-8 record this year.

Santana pitched five scoreless innings with just four hits allowed and a single strikeout during Thursday's loss to Cleveland. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
With Santana already announced as the Minnesota starter for the wild-card game next Tuesday, this was just a tune-up for the veteran righty. He cruised through five frames, throwing just 57 pitches and facing limited trouble. It's been another solid campaign for Santana, as he'll finish the 2017 regular season with 16 wins, a 3.28 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 7.1 K/9. Those numbers moved the fantasy needle in all settings.

Santana will take the mound for Tuesday's wild-card game against the Yankees or the Red Sox, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
This should come as no surprise, as Santana has been Minnesota's ace throughout the season, tossing 206.1 innings over the course of 32 starts in 2017, prior to Thursday's outing against the Indians. During that time, he's accumulated a 3.36 ERA and 1.13 WHIP while recording five complete games and three shutouts. The right-hander just faced the Yankees, who he will likely face Tuesday, giving up two earned runs off seven hits and one walk while striking out three in 5.2 innings. He will de deployed on normal rest following Thursday's start, and would only be available to start one game in the ALDS, were the Twins to advance.

Santana is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Indians, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
It had been previously reported that Santana would next take the mound Friday against the Tigers. However, he'll draw a less-favorable matchup as the Twins plan to deploy him Thursday against Cleveland. Over his last three starts, Santana has posted a 2.41 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 18.2 innings.

Santana (16-8) allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out five over seven innings to earn the win Saturday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Santana was trailing 3-2 before the Twins erupted for eight runs in the top of the eighth inning to help him earn his 16th win of the season. He's allowed five earned runs over his last 18.2 innings covering three starts, and he's been a solid fantasy option down the stretch. He'll make his next start Friday against the Tigers.

Santana allowed two runs on seven hits and one walk across 5.2 innings while taking the loss Monday against the Yankees. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Santana pitched well for the most part, but a solo home run from Aaron Judge in the first inning and a sacrifice fly from Todd Frazier in the sixth sunk him to his eighth loss. He came within one out of his second straight quality start and ran his K:BB to a solid 15:4 in September. Santana continues to deliver solid outings for the contending Twins and will look to get back in the win column Saturday against the Tigers.

Santana threw six scoreless innings allowing three hits and one walk with seven strikeouts, but got a no-decision in Wednesday's win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
It was his 19th quality start in 30 starts this season. He had struggled his last three starts with a 5.40 ERA (11 ER in 18.1 IP) and just a 5.9 K/9, so it was good to see him get back on track.

Santana (15-7) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts over five innings but still picked up the win Friday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
The Royals got to Santana in consecutive starts, as Santana allowed four runs on eight hits over 6.2 innings to the Royals last time out on Monday. Somehow, Santana managed to come out 1-0 over those two starts, though. Everything has been coming up Ervin this season, as Santana now has his first 15 win campaign since he picked up 17 victories for the Angels all the way back in 2010.
