Strange-Gordon went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran infielder hasn't seen regular action in the majors since 2019 and spent all of last season bouncing between three different Triple-A affiliates, but Strange-Gordon is making a strong case for a bench spot with the Nationals by batting .448 (13-for-29) this spring. Aiding his push for a spot on the 40-man roster is the fact that both Alcides Escobar (neck) and Ehire Adrianza (quadriceps) are banged up right now and may not be ready for Opening Day, while the organization has already decided prospect Luis Garcia needs more seasoning at Triple-A. The Nats have a track record of rehabilitating the careers of players seemingly in the twilight of their careers, with Escobar, Josh Harrison and Howie Kendrick all providing recent examples, and Strange-Gordon did steal 22 bases for the Mariners during that 2019 campaign. If he does break camp with the club and Escobar is unavailable, the 33-year-old would likely be competing with Lucius Fox for playing time at shortstop out of the gate.

Strange-Gordon signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Saturday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strange-Gordon bounced between several National League teams in 2021 on minor-league deals, though he never appeared in the majors. He logged 82 plate appearances in 2020, hitting .200/.268/.213 while also stealing three bases as a member of the Mariners. Strange-Gordon could figure into the Nationals' plans in 2022, though they signed Cesar Hernandez earlier in the offseason and have promising prospect Luis Garcia as an option shortstop.

Strange-Gordon was released by the Pirates on Sunday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strange-Gordon signed a minor-league deal with the Pirates in early July but struggled in 16 appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis with a .661 OPS. He's also spent time with the Reds, Brewers and Cubs this year without receiving a big-league opportunity.

Strange-Gordon has one hit in his last 20 at-bats for Triple-A Indianapolis.
EDGE Analysis
The second baseman is among several candidates who might see time at second base in Pittsburgh before season's end. He's likely behind Rodolfo Castro, Wilmer Difo, Tucupita Marcano and Erik Gonzalez (side) in the pecking order, but Strange-Gordon's stolen base ability will put him on the fringe of the fantasy radar if he receives that chance. The 33-year-old is hitting .252 with five homers and six steals split between three Triple-A teams in 2021.

Strange-Gordon signed a minor-league contract with the Pirates on Wednesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strange-Gordon opted out of his deal with the Cubs on Tuesday, but he'll land another minor-league contract a day later. While the 33-year-old has been assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis for now, he could serve as an option for the major-league club in the near future with Erik Gonzalez (side) unavailable and Adam Frazier included in trade rumors. Strange-Gordon has hit .259 with two homers, 23 runs, 11 RBI and five stolen bases across 37 Triple-A games to begin the year.

Strange-Gordon will become a free agent after opting out of his minor-league contract with the Cubs on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 33-year-old has now spent time in Triple-A with both the Cubs and Brewers this season but has earned a big-league call-up from neither organization. Strange-Gordon hit .233 with three stolen bases and nine RBI in 116 at-bats with Triple-A Iowa. Whether he draws interest from another organization remains to be seen.

Strange-Gordon signed a minor-league contract with the Cubs on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strange-Gordon spent time in the Brewers' organization earlier in the season, but he was let go Saturday. He'll find a new minor-league opportunity several days later after Nico Hoerner suffered a hamstring injury Tuesday. Strange-Gordon didn't appear in the majors early in the year, and he should report to Triple-A Iowa to begin his time with the Cubs.

Strange-Gordon was released Saturday from Triple-A Nashville, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strange-Gordon never appeared on the Brewers' big-league roster after signing a minor-league deal April 8. Milwaukee adding shortstop Willy Adames on Friday essentially spelled doom for Strange-Gordon's chances of getting called up, and his Triple-A roster spot can now be better filled by a younger, developing player.

Strange-Gordon signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strange-Gordon was released by the Reds prior to Opening Day and received considerable interest in free agency. While the 32-year-old initially wanted to wait for a major-league deal, he'll settle for a minor-league contract with the Brewers. Even though Strange-Gordon won't be on the major-league roster right away, he could serve as depth in the middle infield at some point after Milwaukee traded Orlando Arcia to Atlanta on Tuesday.

Strange-Gordon was released by the Reds on Friday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Strange-Gordon's chances of making the team diminished once the Reds moved Eugenio Suarez to shortstop. He also got hurt by Alex Blandino's strong spring.
