Granderson went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run in Friday's 6-1 loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
It was a quintessential Grandyman line in his first start of the season, as he showed plenty of patience and demonstrated he still has some pop in his bat at 38 years old. While Granderson won't play every day and may not even be in a true platoon in left field for the rebuilding Marlins, his skills and spot at the top of the order will give him some DFS appeal when he is in the lineup.

Granderson is leading off and playing left field Friday against the Rockies, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Granderson was benched in favor of Rosell Herrera against southpaw Kyle Freeland on Opening Day, but he's back in a prominent position in the lineup against righty German Marquez. The platoon should protect Granderson's batting average at the expense of his counting stats.

Granderson is not in the Opening Day lineup against the Rockies, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
With lefty Kyle Freeland on the hill for Colorado, the Marlins will go with a righty-heavy lineup. Rosell Herrera will start in left field and hit eighth. Look for Granderson to get the starts against righties.

Granderson's contract was purchased by the Marlins on Thursday, Craig Mish of Sirius XM reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move confirms that Granderson will make the team. He's hit just .220 this spring but has walked a ton, giving him a .407 on-base percentage and an .846 OPS. He should fill at least a platoon role in an outfield corner this season.

Granderson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Hitting leadoff as the designated hitter, Granderson collected his first hit in 11 at-bats this spring. The 37-year-old should break camp on the 25-man roster regardless of his performance at the plate, but whether Granderson sees significant playing time for the Marlins this season, or is primarily in the locker room to mentor the likes of Lewis Brinson, remains to be seen.

Granderson (calf) is the designated hitter for Saturday's game against the Cardinals, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He is leading off, but won't be tasked with any defensive work in this contest. Granderson will need to get his timing down at the plate this spring, but otherwise appears poised to win a job out of camp as a non-roster invitee.

Manager Don Mattingly said he's hopeful Granderson (calf) will be ready to make his spring debut Saturday versus the Cardinals, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Granderson had previously been expected to enter the Grapefruit League lineup earlier this week, but those plans were scrapped after the veteran developed some calf soreness. The injury was never viewed as a major concern, so as long as Granderson experiences no complications during workouts the next two days, he should start Saturday at designated hitter or in a corner-outfield spot. The 37-year-old looks like a candidate to fill the large side of a platoon role to begin the season but will mostly likely see his plate appearances dwindle as the campaigns wears on and the Marlins prioritize their younger outfield options.

Manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that Granderson is dealing with some calf soreness, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury is viewed as a minor one for the veteran, who was able to run the bases Tuesday in a simulated game. Assuming Granderson reports no setbacks with the calf coming out of the activity, he should be cleared to make his Grapefruit League debut later this week. Granderson, who is attending camp as a non-roster invitee, could be in line to fill a large-side platoon role in the corner outfield for Miami to begin the 2019 campaign.

Granderson signed a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training with the Marlins on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Granderson will turn 38 in March but is still very much a competent player. He's posted a wRC+ of at least 98 for 14 straight years, and his .242/.351/.431 line in 123 games for the Blue Jays and Brewers last season was good for for a 116 wRC+. There may not be a weaker outfield in the league than the Marlins', so the veteran should have plenty of playing time to start the year, though a regular role can't necessarily be guaranteed all season. If he performs well, he could be shipped to a contender at the deadline to fill a fourth outfielder role (as has been the case for the last two seasons). If age finally catches up to him, the Marlins will likely turn to younger options.

Granderson fully intends to continue his playing career in 2019, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Granderson is set to turn 38 years old in March and doesn't offer much defensive value these days, but he was still a major weapon against right-handed pitching in 2018, slashing .247/.355/.444 (119 wRC+) across 375 plate appearances with the Blue Jays and Brewers. He shouldn't have much trouble landing a minor-league deal or one-year contract later this winter once some of the bigger free agents have come off the board.
