Kluber (shoulder) tossed two scoreless innings in his rehab debut Friday with Double-A Portland.
EDGE Analysis
Kluber entered the game out of the bullpen but got his pitch count up to 35 while scattering one hit with no walks and one strikeout over the two scoreless frames. It's unclear at this point whether the Red Sox plan to bring him back as a starter or reliever, though he probably will get stretched out a bit more in his next rehab outing. He's been on the shelf since June 21 due to right shoulder inflammation.

Kluber (shoulder) is trending toward making his first rehab start July 21, Mike Monaco of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has been throwing bullpen sessions and has not pitched in a game since June 20. If he needs two rehab starts, Kluber could return July 31. He had a 9.45 ERA and 1.95 WHIP in six June starts.

Kluber (shoulder) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session at Fenway Park on Sunday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boston manager Alex Cora was encouraged by the session, noting Kluber looked much better than he did in the days and weeks leading up to his placement on the injured list June 21. "Healthwise, he feels a lot stronger, which is good. You can see the sharpness of the pitches and the ability to locate in that bullpen," Cora said. The right-hander's next step will be a two-inning bullpen Thursday.

The Red Sox placed Kluber on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right shoulder inflammation, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
With a 7.04 ERA and 1.64 WHIP through 55 innings, Kluber hasn't been particularly sharp all season. Now, he'll be put on the shelf for the next two weeks as the Red Sox continue to battle injuries to their pitching staff. Infield prospect David Hamilton was called up from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move.

Kluber picked up the save in Tuesday's 10-4 victory over the Twins. He allowed four runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over three innings.
EDGE Analysis
Kluber has served as a long reliever for the Red Sox since moving to the bullpen in late May and picked up a save in his first opportunity despite giving up four runs. The bullpen experiment has garnered mixed results for Boston, with Kluber giving up one or fewer runs in four of his seven relief appearances, but he's allowed a combined 13 runs in the other three. Regardless, it's unlikely Kluber will receive many high-leverage looks unless he turns things around in a major way.

Kluber allowed seven runs on 11 hits and one walk while striking out one over 3.1 relief innings in Thursday's 10-3 loss to Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Kluber made his third appearance since moving from the rotation to the bullpen, taking over from Matt Dermody in the fifth inning. and he was left in for an ugly sixth inning despite allowing eight consecutive hits to start the frame. Manager Alex Cora told Ian Browne of MLB.com that he wanted to "reset our bullpen" and get ready for a three-game weekend series in New York against the Yankees. Kluber, who was Boston's Opening Day starter and a two-time Cy Young Award winner in his days with Cleveland, watched his ERA swell to 7.13 following the outing as he tries to adjust to a low-leverage role.

Kluber was activated Friday from the paternity list, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kluber has returned to the Red Sox and is likely to get a start in one half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays. He was moved to the bullpen last week but did not make a relief appearance prior to being excused from the team. It's a little uncertain what the season-long plan will be for the veteran right-hander, though his fantasy appeal figures to remain quite low no matter the role.

Kluber was placed on the paternity leave list by the Red Sox on Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kluber and his family just welcomed a new baby, so he'll be away from the club for a few days. Ryan Sherriff is taking his spot in the bullpen.

Kluber has been moved to the bullpen, Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed Wednesday in a radio interview with "Gresh and Fauria" on WEEI 93.7, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cora had said earlier this week that Kluber would make his next start, but the skipper has apparently changed his mind. Kluber has been dreadful after inking a one-year, $10 million contract over the offseason, putting up a 6.26 ERA and 34:18 K:BB across 41.2 innings covering nine starts. That, combined with Tanner Houck's strong showing his last time out, is the impetus behind Kluber's demotion. The 37-year-old wouldn't seem to be a great fit for relief and figures to be relegated to a mop-up role.

Boston manager Alex Cora said Kluber will make his next start Sunday in Arizona, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kluber lasted just 2.1 innings in a loss to the Padres on Sunday and walked three batters during a four-run first inning. With Garrett Whitlock (elbow) expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list to start this coming Saturday, Boston's rotation will increase to six men. Kluber had been off the radar when it came to potential rotation removals the last few weeks, but it's becoming hard for the Red Sox to continue to hand him starts while he's sporting a 6.26 ERA and 18 walks over 41.2 innings this season.
