Hamels (7-7) gave up one run on four hits and four walks while striking out six through 4.1 innings to take the loss against the Padres on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels threw four scoreless innings before running into trouble in the fifth frame, but he just wasn't efficient enough, throwing 91 pitches in the shortened outing. The 35-year-old is in a rough stretch, posting a 1-4 record with a 7.58 ERA in his last seven starts. Hamels is scheduled to make his next start Monday against the Reds at Wrigley Field.

Hamels (7-6) took the loss Friday as the Cubs were blasted 7-1 by the Brewers, giving up five runs on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Familiarity definitely bred some contempt in this case -- facing Milwaukee for the second straight start, the veteran lefty wasn't fooling anyone, with Yasmani Grandal and Christian Yelich both taking him deep. Hamels will carry a 3.95 ERA and 125:47 K:BB through 130 innings into his next outing Wednesday in San Diego.

Hamels (7-5) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings in a loss to the Brewers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels walked two of the first four batters he faced and Manny Pina cashed in, driving home two runs on a single to account for all of the scoring in the game. The lefty allowed a total of five baserunners over his final five frames. He had an eight-run blowup Aug. 14 in his third start back from an oblique injury, but Hamels has pitched pretty well in three starts since then (3.71 ERA, 15:6 K:BB). He gets these same Brewers again next week, this time at Miller Park.

Hamels was activated off the paternity list Friday, Bruce Miles of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels left the team Tuesday to join his wife for the birth of their fifth child, but he rejoins the roster in advance of Saturday's scheduled start. The veteran lefty has struggled in August with a 7.29 ERA and 1.90 WHIP, and he'll look to turn around his fortunes at home against the Brewers.

Hamels (personal) is on track to be activated from the paternity list this weekend and start Saturday against the Brewers, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels left the team Tuesday to be with his wife, Heidi, for the birth of the couple's fifth child. Due to an off day Monday, the Cubs didn't require a replacement in the rotation for Hamels, who will take the hill Saturday on five days' rest. Hamels will look to cap a rough month on a high note after posting a 7.29 ERA and 1.90 WHIP through his first five starts of August.

Hamels allowed two runs over five innings and did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 7-5, 11-inning loss to the Nationals. He gave up seven hits and a walk, while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels kept the Cubs in the game with Stephen Strasburg also allowing just two runs in his outing, though the Chicago lefty needed 97 pitches to get through five innings, which kept him from having a shot at a quality start. Hamels lowered his ERA to 3.73, and he'll look to go a little deeper into the game his next time out Saturday against the Brewers.

Hamels (7-4) allowed three runs over six innings to pick up the win Tuesday against the Giants. He gave up five hits and two walks, while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
After allowing 12 earned runs across five innings in his previous two starts, this was a welcome strong outing for Hamels. All the damage came on a pair of home runs, but the lefty generally limited baserunners and navigated his six innings on 94 pitches (58 strikes). Hamels will take a 3.73 ERA and a little bit of positive momentum into his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Nationals.

Hamels (6-4) allowed eight runs on nine hits and two walks across two innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Phillies. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
It was a performance to forget for Hamels against his former team. The lefty allowed two runs in each of the first two innings, then got the hook after allowing four straight hits to begin the third. The eight earned runs are a new season worst for Hamels, and he saw his ERA climb from 3.09 to 3.69 in the process. He's still been generally solid for the Cubs this year, and he'll look to shake this one off when he takes the hill again Tuesday against the Giants.

Hamels threw five scoreless innings Saturday, allowing just four hits and no walks while striking out six in a no-decision against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The 35-year-old was activated off the injured list prior to the start and allowed just four harmless singles before he was removed after 74 pitches. Hamels has been outstanding for the Cubs this season even though he has not earned a win since June 12. The left-hander holds a 2.84 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 103 strikeouts in 104.2 innings. Hamels will start next at Cincinnati on Thursday.
