Davis' hip is feeling better but he will nevertheless undergo an MRI on Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis was scratched from the lineup back on Tuesday with a left hip flexor strain and has yet to return to game action. The fact that he's feeling better is certainly a positive sign, though a full picture of his status won't become clear until after the MRI.

Davis (hip) is not in the lineup for Friday's spring game against the Red Sox, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis sat out for a third day in a row Thursday, but it was reported that his hip was improving. Apparently he is still not ready to return to game action, however. As long as Davis is making progress, though, his return should not be far off.

Davis (hip) is not in the lineup for Thursday's spring game against the Rays, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports.

Davis (hip) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's spring game against the Rays, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis will be sidelined a second straight day as a result of the soreness in his hip he felt while taking batting practice Monday. Manager Brandon Hyde indicated Davis is day-to-day, so he should have a chance to return to the lineup Thursday.

Davis was scratched from the Baltimore lineup for Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against Pittsburgh due to a left hip flexor strain, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis picked up the injury while fielding a throw up the line during Sunday's exhibition victory over the Tigers. The Orioles had been hopeful that Davis would be able to return to action two days later, but the team erred on the side of caution and held him out after he experienced renewed discomfort in his hip when he took batting practice Monday. Manager Brandon Hyde indicated that Davis' setback is only a minor one, making it likely the first baseman will return to action within the next few days.

Davis was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates for an undisclosed reason, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Expect manager Brandon Hyde to provide an update for the reason behind Davis' absence later Tuesday. Jace Peterson will enter the lineup at first base in place of Davis, who is off to a 1-for-12 start to the Grapefruit League season.

Davis went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer Tuesday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Davis was slowed at the start of camp due to bronchitis, but the slugger said after Tuesday's game that he's finally back to full strength. "I felt like today was really the first day I had my legs underneath me the entire day," Davis noted. "Coming off the last few days of that bronchitis, just getting it out of my system, felt like I was getting my strength back and getting my legs underneath me, which makes it a little bit easier." He'll look to build off his performance as spring training continues.

Davis (illness) took part in batting practice and fielding drills Sunday and will be a full participant moving forward, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran slugger sat out of activities to start spring training due to bronchitis, but it appears that issue is fully in the rearview mirror at this point. Barring any further issues, Davis projects to be the Orioles' starting first baseman to begin the season, though he'll need to improve his .168/.246/.296 slash line from last season to warrant staying in that role.

Davis has been in Florida for a week but has yet to join his team due to bronchitis, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis expects to be on the field Saturday. He reportedly slimmed down over the offseason after changing up his workout plan. He'll need to make dramatic improvements this year after hitting an anemic .168/.246/.296 last season.

General manager Mike Elias said he believes Davis is big part of the Orioles moving forward, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Elias added that it's a priority to get the slugging first baseman back on track -- citing analytics as a way to help -- after he hit just .168/.243/.296 with 16 homers in 128 games in 2018. Davis is still owed $110 million over the next four seasons, but it sounds like the Orioles will give the veteran a chance to snap out of his funk rather than treat him as a sunk cost.
