Save Fallers: 2018 MLB Season Recap rotoballer.com Tue 11/6/18 8:40 AM

The 2018 season has now come and gone (so sad!), so it is now time to dive into trends and projections for next season! A tough statistic to find trends on is saves, as a lot of success for closers comes from success from teams. There are also a lot of bullpens by committee these days, further stifling the value of closers. That being said, only four of the pitchers that ranked in the top-10 in saves in 2017 followed up in 2018. One of those pitchers had a huge jump in saves, but [...]

2018 RotoBaller MLB Challenge - And The RT Sports Winner Is... rotoballer.com Sat 10/13/18 4:25 PM

What a season, RotoBallers. Fantasy baseball is always a fun, interesting, and long season - filled with injuries, breakout players, and different strategies. It takes stamina and endurance to win the six month marathon, and we're here today to recognize those who pulled it off.[...]

Carlos Martinez, Bud Norris Unavailable Tuesday rotoballer.com Tue 9/18/18 5:54 PM

St. Louis Cardinals closer Carlos Martinez and relief pitcher Bud Norris (finger) will be unavailable on Tuesday. Martinez has pitched each of the last two nights, while Norris is dealing with a blister issue and also was unavailable on Monday. St. Louis' bullpen will be short-handed Tuesday night, meaning Jordan Hicks is likely the favorite if a save situation presents itself. Martinez should continue to close games down the stretch and needs to be owned in all leagues.

Bud Norris Unavailable On Monday rotoballer.com Mon 9/17/18 6:15 PM

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Bud Norris (finger) is unavailable out of the bullpen on Monday so that he can let the skin on his right middle finger heal. Norris was the closer for most of the season, but he recently lost his job while going through a rough patch while dealing with a hip injury. With Carlos Martinez the man in the ninth inning for the foreseeable future, Norris doesn't have any fantasy value.

Week 25 MLB Closers and Saves Report rotoballer.com Fri 9/14/18 7:45 AM

If you're still reading this, you're most likely either in the playoffs or winding down the year in a rotisserie league. Either way: congrats! This week was another interesting one in bullpens across the league, one that will certainly affect not only the fantasy playoffs but also the real MLB playoffs next month. There's bullpen turmoil in the desert, as the wearer of baseball's best Players' Weekend jersey may not be closing anymore. There's a familiar name in a somewhat unfamiliar position[...]

Week 24 MLB Closers and Saves Report rotoballer.com Fri 9/7/18 3:45 AM

Many long and circuitous roads have brought us to the fantasy baseball playoffs, my friends. Baseball season is a long one with so many games to keep track of each and every day, so a legitimate congratulations goes out to all of you who made it to the playoffs in your leagues. I made it in mine, but as the third seed I didn't get the first-round bye, so I might be a little nervous about next week. This week in bullpens was an interesting one, with a guy who hadn't recorded a save in four yea[...]

Bud Norris Might Not Be Available Until Friday rotoballer.com Tue 9/4/18 3:38 PM

St. Louis Cardinals closer Bud Norris, who blew two games on Sunday and Monday, won't be available again until Friday, according to manager Mike Shildt. Shildt also hasn't confirmed that Norris will get the team's next save chance when he returns to action this weekend, leaving the door open for others. Norris will have to rebound the next chance he gets in order to hold off Jordan Hicks, Carlos Martinez and potentially Dakota Hudson in the ninth inning. Pick up Hicks if you're speculating.

NL-Only Waiver Wire Team of the Week: MLB Week 23 rotoballer.com Tue 9/4/18 4:15 AM

Every week in baseball, a significant player will hit the disabled list, slip into a slump, or get traded out of a good spot. How fantasy owners adapt to these situations can make or break the season as a whole. One lousy add might not hurt the long-term standing of a team, but failing to take advantage of breakouts or impact bats before others sure can. The primary challenge of playing in an NL or AL-only league is often the lack of options regarding adding and subtracting players when neede[...]

Cardinals Non-Committal On Bud Norris rotoballer.com Mon 9/3/18 2:49 PM

St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt was non-committal on Monday when asked if closer Bud Norris would get the next save chance. Norris was hit with the loss while allowing two home runs on Sunday and blew the save when he allowed a game-tying home run in the ninth on Monday. Norris has been pretty good for fantasy owners over the course of the season, but he's faltered of late, opening up the door for Jordan Hicks to possibly see some save chances.
