The Blue Jays claimed Bass off waivers from Seattle on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Bass spent the 2019 season with the Mariners, posting a 3.56 ERA in 48 innings and saving five games. Ryan Dull was designated for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.

Bass struck out two in two-thirds of an inning to record his fourth save in a 5-3 win over the Reds on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Bass was called to pitch with one out and the bases loaded with a three-run lead in the ninth inning. Bass struck out the first two batters he faced, although a wild pitch allowed a run to score on the second punchout. He forced a groundout to nail down his fourth save of the season. The 31-year-old has now gotten saves in both games of the series, while Matt Magill has not pitched since Sept. 5.

Bass pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn the save against Cincinnati on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Bass needed only nine pitches to set the Reds down in order and pick up his first save since Aug. 7. The right-hander has recently yielded primary closer duties to Matt Magill, though Tuesday's opportunity to close out the one-run game suggests that Seattle's ninth-inning situation is fluid. Nonetheless, relying on Bass is a shaky proposition as he has blown five of eight save chances this season while posting a 3.67 ERA and 37:16 K:BB in 41.2 innings.

Bass allowed a run on a hit and a walk while striking out three over 1.1 innings Friday against Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
Bass failed to produce a scoreless outing for his club, though the Mariners would emerge with a 7-4 victory in the season opener. The 31-year-old right-hander was given an opportunity to slam the door Aug. 17 against the Blue Jays, but after surrendering a run, he was charged with a blown save. Meanwhile, Matt Magill appears to have stepped into the closer's role for Seattle, racking up three saves in his last four chances, all coming within the last eight days. Though Bass may be called on in high-leverage situations moving forward, Magill is clearly the Mariners' top choice in the ninth inning.

Bass (1-4) took the loss Friday, allowing three runs (two earned) on a hit and three walks over one inning in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Bass entered with the game tied at two, but the Rays were able to sting him for three runs, and the Mariners were unable to get their new closer off the hook. Bass had tossed eight consecutive scoreless innings prior to Friday's hiccup, which saw the right-hander's ERA inflate to 3.73 with a 1.12 WHIP in 31.1 innings. Bass is only 2-for-6 in save chances this season, which are likely to be few and far between when pitching for the AL West's cellar dwellers.

Bass picked up his second save of the season and the fifth of his career, working around one hit to fire a scoreless ninth inning against the Padres on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Bass is quite the success story; he's gone from being unable to crack the Reds' roster and opting out of his minor-league contract to being a big-league closer in a little over two months. The 31-year-old appears to have taken over since the Mariners dealt Roenis Elias and Hunter Strickland at the trade deadline. His K rate is up five percentage points from his career mark, helped by a fastball that has gained three full ticks since 2017 (95.4 mph average). Bass should be added where available.

Bass struck out one in a perfect inning Sunday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Though he didn't enter Sunday's contest in a save situation, Bass appears to be in line for closing duties after Roenis Elias was dealt to the Nationals on Wednesday. Bass has registered just one save on the year and has blown four save opportunities, so Matt Magill may also be in the mix if Bass struggles to get the job done.

Bass (1-3) was charged with a loss against the Angels on Sunday, allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk over 1.2 innings. He also recorded a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Tasked with preserving a 3-3 tie when he entered in the bottom of the eighth, Bass got his appearance off to a reasonably positive start by retiring two of the first three hitters he faced. However, he allowed a pinch-hit single to Justin Bour before exiting and then saw Roenis Elias surrender a three-run home run to Matt Thaiss that plated both of the runners that were Bass's responsibility. The 31-year-old has now been charged with a pair of earned runs each in two of his four July outings, leading to a bump in his ERA from 3.57 to 4.43.

Bass did not allow a baserunner over 1.1 innings, striking out two batters and earning the save in Friday's 4-3 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
It's the journeyman reliever's first major-league save since 2014. Bass has done well in five appearances since signing with the Mariners, with a 1.42 ERA and 0.63 WHIP in 6.1 innings. He's not expected to compete for saves, but the right-hander may be trusted with higher-leverage assignments if he continues to pitch well.

Bass signed a big-league contract with the Mariners and will be available for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
He was released from his minor-league deal with the Reds after exercising his opt-out clause, and the Mariners were there to swoop in and bring him on via a big-league deal. The 31-year-old journeyman logged an International League-high nine saves while posting a 2.21 ERA and 19:6 K:BB in 20.1 innings before the Reds let him go. Bass should pitch in mid-to-low-leverage innings for Seattle going forward.
