Kris Medlen told the media Wednesday morning that he's spent the past couple days preparing himself to undergo a second Tommy John surgery. The Braves have done the same, importing veteran starter Ervin Santana on Wednesday. "Nothing official yet but he has accepted that he's almost certainly going to need TJ surgery," reports Dave O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It's unfortunate news, but few are equipped to deal with it like Medlen, lauded for his makeup. He missed nearly all of the 2011 season while coming back from his first Tommy John surgery and returned to log a 2.47 ERA over 335 frames in 2012-2013.
