An MRI on Kris Medlen's right arm revealed "some involvement of the ligament." "Involvement" is a generous reading of "damage." Dr. James Andrews is expected to examine the limb in question and proffer a second opinion. Andrews, Atlanta fans probably grimace to recall, performed Medlen's previous Tommy John surgery. Arm MRI's are notoriously difficult to read after the procedure, so the famous doctor's involvement makes sense. Medlen left his Grapefruit League appearance Sunday against the Mets after experiencing pain after a fourth-inning pitch. It's too soon to speculate on Medlen's 2014 status, but none of this is good news.
