Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Phillies have expressed interest in Vernon Wells. Cafardo adds that "a few teams are beginning to consider a look-see" for Wells. The 35-year-old was released by the Yankees last week, as they decided to just eat the $2.4 million they still owed the outfielder. Wells is obviously a shell of his former self, but he could make some sense in a secondary role with his albatross of a contract off the books.
