Zimmerman admitted Thursday that he was "hurt enough not to play" in the NLDS, the Washington Post reports. The 30-year-old rehabbed for two months in an attempt to be ready for the postseason, but he didn't make enough progress with the hamstring for manager Matt Williams to feel comfortable starting him over a healthy option. Zimmerman did pinch-hit in all four games of the series, however, going 1-for-4, with all four of his plate appearances coming with the bases empty. Adam LaRoche is a free agent this winter, and his departure would open the door for Zimmerman to step in at first base next season.
