Cabrera (hamstring) is "doubtful" to return to the Padres prior to the end of their current homestand on Sept. 24, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The Padres were previously optimistic that Cabrera would return before the conclusion of a 10-game homestand, but that no longer appears to be the case. The team has just four games left on the schedule after Sept. 24, so it's now seemingly unlikely that Cabrera sees another at-bat for San Diego in 2014. He'll have a full offseason to recover from a hamstring injury that has kept him out since Aug. 10, and would presumably return to the starting shortstop role at the start of spring training.
