Sale threw eight scoreless innings Thursday against the A's to earn his 12th win of the season. Sale received an extra day of rest between starts, but he clearly was not thrown from his rhythm. He allowed two singles to Jed Lowrie, and no other Athletic achieved a base hit against Sale. Sale's ERA is now at an AL-leading 1.99, and his 192 strikeouts rank sixth, which is impressive when you consider he has pitched at least 40 innings fewer than all of the guys ahead of him. Even with 12 wins, he should be a top-2 Cy Young candidate come season's end.
