Verlander gave up seven runs -- six earned -- on nine hits over 6.2 innings in a losing effort Wednesday. The Cleveland offense found ways to put runs on the board against Verlander in the first, fourth and seventh inning Wednesday. Verlander has been missing bats more regularly over his last three starts (21 strikeouts in 19.1 innings), but been hittable during that span while the opposition has racked up 12 runs on 26 hits during that span. Verlander will face the Royals on Monday in his next start -- the beginning of a crucial series with Kansas City as the two clubs battle for the AL Central crown.
