Manager Don Mattingly announced Wednesday that Beckett's (hip) season is likely over, Steve Dilbeck of the Los Angeles Times reports. "I think the timing of him being able to get back is probably not very possible at this point, that we're going to be able to see him again this year," Mattingly said. Beckett was one of the surprise performers through the first half of the season, posting a 2.02 ERA and tossing his first career no-hitter after returning from surgery to treat thoracic outlet syndrome. He saw his performance dip after the All-Star break and has been out since Aug. 8 with the hip impingement, with the Dodgers closing the door on a possible return after an unsuccessful session of catch last week. It's unknown at this time if Beckett will opt for surgery to rectify the hip issue in the offseason, but either way, the soon-to-be free agent will likely have to settle for a one- or two-year deal in the winter due to his health concerns.
