Tulowitzki (hip) is expected to require five months' recovery time once he undergoes surgery to repair his torn labrum Friday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. First placed on the DL on July 22 with what was considered a left hip flexor strain, Tulowitzki was diagnosed with the labrum tear following Wednesday's visit with a specialist. It's the second time in three years Tulowitzki has been unable to finish the season, though the shortstop is on track to be healthy for spring training. Still, the development that has to be especially frustrating this time around for Tulowitzki, considering he's implemented a wide range of preventative-maintenance activities into his daily routine the last two years in an attempt to preserve his body for the rigors of a full season. With a .340 average and 21 homers in 91 games, Tulowitzki was a leading contender for the NL MVP award before succumbing to the season-ending injury, which should make him a high-risk, high-reward selection in fantasy drafts yet again in 2015.
