Cain (elbow) underwent successful surgery Monday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips and clean up bone spurs was recommended by three different doctors who examined Cain's elbow, and he got the surgery out of the way Monday. The right-hander now faces a three-month rehabilitation process, so he should, in theory, be back at full strength well ahead of spring training. Cain said he's been pitching with the bone chips for 10 years, but it's unrealistic to think the procedure will cure all of his woes.
