Alexi Amarista went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI Tuesday against the Giants. San Diego has been thrilled with Amarista's defense with Jedd Gyorko (foot) on the disabled list, but the diminutive Venezuelan is best relegated to utility duties due to his weak stick. This was his first three-hit game of the season, and half of his 12 RBI through 65 games have come in just two contests. Amarista, batting .221/.278/.297, is no better than an emergency stopgap NL-only player until Gyorko's return.
