Ortiz (general soreness) returned to the lineup Thursday after sitting out several days. He served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with an RBI. Ortiz was shut down for a variety of reasons, including dehydration and flu-like symptoms. He struck out, popped out to short, hit a fielder's choice RBI, but was unconcerned about the rhythm in his swing.
