Morrow allowed five earned runs in 3.2 innings Saturday against Arizona. He gave up eight hits and three walks over 59 pitches. Still, Morrow remains in the running for the fifth spot in the Padres' rotation, the Union-Tribune reports. Morrow had allowed just one earned run in nine innings of work prior to Saturday's outing. Bud Black was quoted in the report as saying that the Padres will "continue to evaluate [Morrow and Despaigne], but those guys are competing hard. It's probably a better question to answer in late March...It's a good competition." With Matt Wisler, Robbie Erlin, and Casey Kelly all being included in Sunday's round of cuts, the competition is down to Morrow and Despaigne. Both of them will make a few more appearances before the competition is decided.
