Sandoval hit his first homer of the spring in Thursday's game against the Pirates. It came swinging lefty against right-hander Ryan Beckman. Joining Sandoval was David Ortiz, who also homered off Beckman on Thursday. It was an encouraging sign of left-handed pop for a team that generated a mere .696 OPS swinging from the left side of the plate in 2014, a tie for 20th in the majors.
