Tulowitzki (hip) went hitless in two at-bats while playing three innings in the field during his spring training debut Monday against the Reds. Tulowitzki slotted in at his familiar shortstop spot in what marked his first competitive action since July 19 of last season. The Rockies elected to rest Tulowitzki on Tuesday for the Rockies' split-squad games, but the absence wasn't injury-related, as manager Walt Weiss made the choice to give Tulowitzki a maintenance day. As a veteran player, Tulowitzki will likely see a limited slate of spring-training at-bats the rest of the way, but he'll get enough work to be well prepared for the start of the regular season. While Tulowitzki's surgically repaired left hip seems to be holding up well, his myriad health concerns over the last several years raise plenty of questions about his ability to stay upright over the course of a 162-game schedule.
