Chances are "slim" that Sale (foot) will be ready to start for the White Sox on Opening Day, according to manager Robin Ventura, the Chicago Tribune's Colleen Kane reports. The avulsion fracture in Sale's right foot will keep him away from baseball activities until the middle of March, and he likely won't have enough time to get ready for the start of the season. In the end, this may only come down to Sale missing one start for Chicago, and with the current information we have, he should still be treated like a No. 1 starting pitcher in fantasy. However, the injury is to his landing foot, which means the White Sox will be careful not to rush his recovery, as the team has greater aspirations this year after a flurry of free agent signings and trades to improve the club. Pitching coach Don Cooper said Carlos Rodon would have a better chance of making the starting rotation out of spring training if Sale is not ready for the start of the season. Jeff Samardzija would be the likely choice to take the ball on Opening Day if Sale is not ready.
