Victorino is a candidate to hit leadoff, WEEI.com reports. Red Sox manager John Farrell was discussing leadoff options Friday, mentioning Victorino as a possibility along with Brock Holt and Mookie Betts. Betts appears to be the best-suited option, but Farrell threw some uncertainty on that notion earlier this week when he said Victorino, if healthy, would be the starting right fielder. In that event, Betts would likely come off the bench. Farrell added the leadoff hitter is "going to be dependent on the opposing pitcher on a given day." We expect the starting right field / leadoff hitter jobs to play itself out over the course of spring training.
