Morrow will be in a four-man competition for the Padres' fifth spot in the starting rotation, Denis Lin of the San Diego Union Tribune reports. Morrow, who was acquired by the Padres this offseason, will be competing with Odrisamer Despaigne, Matt Wisler, and Robbie Erlin for the final spot in the rotation. Although injuries have hampered him, especially over the last two seasons where he made just 16 starts, Morrow is still on the right side of 30 and has more major league experience than the other candidates. Should Morrow stay healthy but lose out on the fifth spot, Lin reports that he could assume a long relief role for the Padres.
