Encarnacion could begin the season as the primary DH, the Blue Jays' official site reports.With Adam Lind out of the picture, the Jays can afford to remove defense from the equation for Encarnacion while using Justin Smoak and Danny Valencia in a platoon at first base. Alternatively, Encarnacion could split his time between the two spots, while affording manager John Gibbons to play the matchups and have a floating DH spot. Regardless, Encarnacion should be ready to roll as spring training gets underway while providing his typical power and run production in the heart of the Toronto lineup.
