Molina has reportedly dropped as many as 20 pounds through his offseason workouts, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. In addition to limiting the wear and tear on his knees, a lighter frame could enable Molina to take on more playing time at first base when the Cards are facing a left-handed starter and want to sit Matt Adams. Further removed from the thumb surgery he had to repair a torn ligament last summer, Molina should be able to rebound in the power department this season.
