Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said that Hernandez is slightly ahead of Patrick Corbin in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Although he did not specify a timetable for Hernandez, the team expects Corbin to return in June. Hernandez had surgery in early April after receiving the diagnosis of a torn UCL in March. Once he's healthy, Hernandez should slot into a late-inning role for the Diamondbacks again, but improved bullpen depth will allow the team to ease him back toward high-leverage innings. Most likely, Hernandez will start the season the 15-day DL with the hope of returning at some point in May.
