Cruz has agreed to a multi-year deal with the Mariners, ESPN's Jerry Crasnick has confirmed. According to El Caribe in the Dominican Republic, the deal is worth $57 million over four years. The Mariners were looking for a right-handed power bat, and appear to have found their top target in Cruz. As a result of signing Cruz, the Mariners will forfeit the 19th overall pick in the first-year player draft. After hitting a career-high 40 home runs for the Orioles in 2014, it will be interesting to see if Cruz can maintain a similar level of production while playing half of his games in a home park that has been historically challenging for right-handed power bats.
