Martin has declined the Pirates' $15.3 million qualifying offer, CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports. As expected, Martin will test his value as a free agent rather the take the one-year, $15.3 million offer, which is yet to be accepted by any players this offseason. After a strong 2014 season, Martin will easily be able to command a longer-term deal, and he reportedly already has a few high-profile suitors. Pittsburgh, of course, would love to have him back, but the Dodgers and Cubs, among others, are believed to be very interested in his services. Martin hit .290 last season, with a .402 OBP, and threw out 39 percent of would-be base-stealers.
