Verlander will start Game 2 of the ALDS on Friday, MLive.com reports. Max Scherzer was the obvious choice for the Game 1 nod, but manager Brad Ausmus said there were several internal discussions about whether to start Verlander or David Price in Game 2. The team ultimately settled on Verlander, who allowed just two earned runs with 10 strikeouts against no walks over 15.1 innings in his final two starts. Price is thus set to start Sunday's Game 3 at Comerica Park.
