Ortiz will receive treatment on his left wrist in the offseason but shouldn't require surgery, Sean McAdam of CSN New England reports. Ortiz's numbers saw a great decline in 2014 from previous seasons, dropping from a .309/.395/.564 batting line in 2013 to .263/.355/.517 this season, perhaps his first sign of aging. The 38-year-old has been a mainstay in the middle of the Red Sox's order since 2003. Ortiz is a free agent in the offseason, but may receive smaller offers in the offseason that the $15 million he made in 2014.
