Shields was masterful Friday night, hurling 8.2 shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out six against the Yankees in a 1-0 Royals victory. Locked in a pitcher's duel with Michael Pineda, Shields (13-7, 3.23 ERA) was in command throughout as he needed just 97 pitches (68 for strikes) to record 25 outs. He'll face the division-rival Tigers in Detroit next time out.
