Bailey will undergo surgery Friday to repair a torn flexor mass tendon in his right forearm. After a recent MRI revealed little-to-no improvement with Bailey's injury, the Reds began kicking around the idea of sending the right-hander for surgery. It has been determined that surgery is indeed the best route, meaning Bailey's disappointing 2014 campaign is officially over. Although an exact timetable for his recovery has not been established, this could jeopardize Bailey's availability for the start of next season, but it makes sense from the Reds' perspective, as the 28-year-old still has five more years remaining on his contract.
