McCarthy allowed five hits and four earned runs over six innings against Toronto on Sunday. He struck out four and walked two. McCarthy was undone by the long ball in this one. He allowed back-to-back home runs to Melky Cabrera and Jose Bautista in the sixth inning, and then coughed one up to Edwin Encarnacion in the following frame. Aside from those mistakes, McCarthy was solid, as he threw 60 of his 90 pitches for strikes in the loss. The right-hander's next start is scheduled for Saturday at home to Kansas City.
