Verlander worked seven solid innings, allowing just one run on nine hits and two walks while piling up eight strikeouts in Friday's 7-1 win over the White Sox. Verlander surrendered a run in the bottom of the first Friday night, but followed up with six straight scoreless frames en route to his 12th victory of the campaign. In his best performance of the second half, the 2011 AL Cy Young winner surrendered less than two runs in an outing for just the second time this season and first since April 17. Verlander will attempt to build off this effort Wednesday versus the Indians.
