Lowrie (finger) could head out on a rehab assignment this weekend, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports. With Lowrie's finger holding up to two-handed swings in the cages, the A's will return the 30-year-old to on-field batting practice Thursday. If all goes well, there's a chance Lowrie could begin a rehab assignment this weekend, with a return to the big club for Monday's series opener against Seattle at least within the realm of possibility.
